Lesley Oldaker. |
Lesley Oldaker creates paintings that investigate the evanescent nature and purpose of human groupings in given spaces. Her figurative images come to resemble abstracted shapes, vaguely reminiscent of crowds of people. These individuals blend in with their shadows, the buildings, and one another, forming an ambiguous mass. The paintings' purposeful lack of pigment creates a murky sense of being, in which the subject matter appears to be caught in the a tenebrous mist, with little conviction.
