Quirky Ad Campaign for CCS.

The College for Creative Studies recently approached Team Detroit in hopes of creating a unique advertising campaign to attract students to their school. I imagine the college was wonderfully surprised by Team Detroit's witty solution to their problem. The advertising firm, based out of Detroit (who would have guessed?), chose to create a series of pastiche images that embody--and therefor play upon--classic anti-drug campaign slogans, such as "1 in 5 teenagers will experiment with art," or "Doodling is a gateway to illustration." On their website, Team Detroit explains that they had to appeal to tech-savvy students, and that they sought to do so through a classic form of advertisement: the ye olde poster. When the designs were finished and posted publicly, Team Detroit noted on their website that, "After we created this series of low-tech posters, something amazing happened. They went viral. People started sharing them through blogs Facebook, and Twitter. People chuckled, then passed them along to their friends. Who knew you could blow up the Internet with a campaign full of print material?" Amazing that, by appealing directly to a technological generation through traditional media, the design company still managed to create a digital ad whirlwind.
