200 Years of Election Art. |
As most of you know, last night the second presidential debate unfolded between candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Whether or not you are interested in American politics, I figured this was a perfect opportunity to delve in to the actual art of politics--as in the design and creative work behind past and present presidential campaigns. As you may recall, I have already posted some of the unofficial Obama posters created by the 30 Reasons organization here. Below are more posters from Obama and Romney's campaign, as well as a multitude of campaign posters from American political history. The Library of Congress, paired with Quirk Books, published Presidential Campaign Posters: Two Hundred Years of Election Art. It is a huge book full of 100+ pages of election art in a tear-out, ready-to-frame format. Some of the posters and respective slogans were positively peculiar back in the day...
