Ernesto Neto installed an
interactive sculpture, Anthropodino, at
the Park Avenue Armory in New York City way back in 2009. Somehow, I just found
out about it, and I am immensely jealous of anyone who was able to visit this exhibition.
The piece was enormous, comprised of various chambers and tubes, tent-like
structures, looming ceilings, dripping pantyhose, etc. It resembles an
intergalactic cave or a monsters digestive tract, perhaps a mutated womb
painted in pastels. Nonetheless, the work was made completely up for the
public. Viewers were encouraged to touch the hanging monstrous spandex drips,
sleep in the mounds of pillows, unwind in the ball-pit, etc. There was even
aromatherapy. Supposedly the inside of the installation smelled of cloves. (viaC-Monster.net)
