The Shoes "Time to Dance," directed by Daniel Wolfe, is more of a short film then a music video. Staring Jake Gyllenhaal, the video begins with two inebriated young adults dancing in their living room. Their casual drinking escalates in to a skirmish, followed by a series of murders. Though the plot is jarring, the execution of "Time to Dance" is stunning. Wolfe creates a cohesive narrative and expertly weaves beautiful visuals with The Shoes pop soundtrack, thus creating a stark juxtaposition between violence and carefree thrills. Gyllenhaal's own performance is impressive as well. He offers depth to a character we only know for eight minutes. Switching between vague, emotionless expressions and powerful facial contortions, Gyllnhaal offers just enough character development to hold viewers' attention and keep them guessing. Though not for the faint hearted, "Time to Dance" is an expertly crafted film that transcends the average music video formula and truly manifests in to a work of art. Watch below.
