Marco Dabbicco's examination of identity

Artist Marco Dabbicco describes himself as a man "…fascinated by everything but ordinary." Upon viewing his work, there is no doubt that Dabbicco is a pursuer of the unique and unexpected. In his 2012 series, "Identity," the Italy based artist documented the lives of drag queens, procuring beautiful black and white photographs of a unique sub culture while also bringing to light ideas of social norms, personal status, and individuality. Of his work he states

Identity is the way each person relates himself, or others, to the society and its groups. Identity determines the way in which each personality differs from the others or coincide with them.

Identity mediates between the individual and the rest of the world; it determines its freedom or dependance from something.

We took for grant[ed] that we own just one personality in its uniqueness, but, what happens if we meet a Drag Queen or a transgender? Is he a man? A woman?
