I’m
sure you’ve seen Jason de Caires Taylor. He is famous for his sculptures of
mass crowds of people, placed underwater at the Museum of Underwater Modern Art
in Cancun, Mexico (see images here). Recently, he installed a new series of sculptures in the
same museum, a series of “urban reefs”. He constructed small replicas of
classic suburban homes for sea dwelling creatures. The rooms in the homes are
specially constructed. De Caires Taylor worked with marine biologists to create
specific areas in the houses for various reef inhabitants to hide from
predators. (via DesignBoom)
