I
am a little bias to Jakub Kujawa’s work. I spotted his art years ago and
instantly fell in love with his style. It seems each year I check back on his
site to see what he’s been up to, his style has shifted minutely and he has a
whole plethora of new, equally stunning, art. Kujawa is a custom tattoo artist
and a traditional painter/drawer. He creates dizzying paintings with blurred
faces, duplicated figures, and deep pigments. Often times, the figures in his
work are combined or adjoined in misshapen ways. To me, many of his paintings
seem reminiscent of Dante’s Inferno.
There is something about Kujawa’s use of color and texture, and the energetic movement
of his figures, that makes his work so attractive to me.
